Overview
The objectives and work programme for Culture West Midlands are drawn from;
- A funding agreement with DCMS based on the promotion and delivery of government policy for culture at the regional level
- A grant aid agreement with Advantage West Midlands to develop the contribution of the cultural sector to economic development
- The West Midlands Regional Concordat and our shared commitment with other regional agencies to improving the quality of life in the region
- The Regional Cultural Strategy
- Responding to needs and opportunities which contribute to improving quality of life in the region and the collective performance of the Cultural Sector
Our work falls broadly into five areas.
- Regional Profile and Distinctiveness: - promoting access, excellence and choice across the cultural sector, contributing to the distinctiveness and raising the profile of the region.
- Strategic Planning and Research: - facilitating the development, implementation and monitoring of the regional Cultural Strategy informed by a coordinated programme of cultural research and data collection.
- Partnerships and Capacity: - creating the conditions for collaboration and extending capacity across the cultural sector.
- Supporting Regeneration and Quality of Life: - promoting the contribution of culture and leisure to economic, social and environmental regeneration, helping to make the West midlands Region a better place in which to live, work, visit, study and invest.
- Developing Culture West Midlands: - seeking to continuously improve our performance as board members, employees and as a team, aiming to deliver recognisable added value through our involvement with partners and projects.
The strategic development manager and team co-ordinator posts are part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
